2001 Meeting of the IPSA Section of the Structure of Governance
Program
LOCATION: Forum Building, Norman, Oklahoma, University of Oklahoma
|
| DATES: |
March 30-31, 2001, Friday and Saturday |
| TITLE |
THE NEW PUBLIC PHILOSOPHY: REDRAWING THE BOUNDARIES
BETWEEN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE |
| THEME: |
The lines between public and private are shifting rapidly.
Many public tasks today are handled by private organizations, changing the
way public responsibilities are conceived and monitored. The internet is
perhaps the most obvious example. Yet the trend towards privatization of
public tasks is producing changes also in the areas of social security,
environmental regulation, corporate governance, etc. The impact and
consequences of such changes are hotly debated, and the purpose of this
conference is to make a positive contribution to the debate.
