Brief Report on the Structure of Governance Conference
Forum Building, Norman, Oklahoma, University of Oklahoma,
March 30-31, 2001
The conference was attended by 25 scholars who specialize in the fields of
comparative administration and public policy. Most of these visitors presented
papers. Others served as discussants. They came from around the world,
representing universities in Australia, Korea, Denmark, Switzerland, Britain,
Germany, Norway, Canada, and many universities across the United States.
The conference also benefited from the involvement of faculty from Oklahoma
University’s political science department. Six of the Public Administration
faculty participated in the conference as panel chairs and discussants, and a
number of graduate students also attended the sessions.
On one afternoon the participants had a guided tour of the Sam Noble Museum
of Natural History, which gave them a brief glimpse at the excellent things
happening on campus.
This SOG meeting was a high quality academic conference due to the quality of
the papers and the good academic discussions and also because of a very well
organized conference that showcased Oklahoma University as a venue for
international activities.
